My Artist Journey: Update 2024

In 2021, I made a bold leap from the corporate world of software product design to dive headfirst into the colorful realm of painting. If you're curious about the details of this pivotal decision, check out my blog, "A Week."

During this transformative period, I devoted myself to refining my artistic skills, exploring the depths of my creative expression, and establishing crucial connections with galleries and dealers and Award Shows. However the traditional gallery scene, I came to a profound realization: I yearned for a more direct and personal connection with my audience.

Here are some things I learned:

  • Lack of Personal Connection: Traditional galleries often lacked the personal touch I craved, leaving me disconnected from the feedback and reactions of those who appreciated my art.
  • High Commission Rates: The standard practice of galleries taking a substantial 30-50% cut of sales felt like a barrier, diminishing the fruits of my labor and dedication.
  • Limited Collaborations: Despite initial interest from galleries, meaningful collaborations were few and far between, with many engagements fizzling out after an initial expression of interest.

Despite these challenges, I bravely ventured into new territories, fueled by a deep longing for genuine connections with my supporters. Along the way, I had the honor of winning a prestigious art competition, further validating my artistic journey.
